The age for reception of 1st Eucharist is 3rd grade. In the Diocese of Fargo, Confirmation and 1st Eucharist are celebrated by the Bishop at the same Mass.

The use of the Parent Handbook for 1st Eucharist (diocesan curriculum, see order form above or print from PDF below), with a copy provided for all parents and catechists.
Parent Training Sessions: At least two 2-hour training sessions for parents on Eucharist, distinct from the four hours of catechesis each for Penance and Confirmation.
Retreat for Children: At least one 3-5 hour retreat concerning Eucharist, distinct from the retreats for Penance and Eucharist, for parents and their children, (sponsors may be invited). Regional or Deanery retreats are commended.
Interview for child: An interview for each child to assess their readiness and intention. One interview suffices for Confirmation and First Eucharist
The above requirements are to be pastorally adjusted for others requesting 1st Eucharist beyond 3rd grade.
